The 2 Big Reasons Many Websites Don’t Make Sales

The simple truth is most websites fail to make money. A large amount of business owners spend thousands and thousands on their website only to have it do nothing. No one calls, no one emails… and most importantly no one gives you any money.
What can we do to help that? This article discusses two big errors I see with most websites.
Lack Of A Website Conversion Process
Unfortunately many website owners spend all their time getting traffic but don’t take the next step. Your website needs to have a clearly defined website conversion process to convert visitors into buyers. Most website owners give no thought to this process at all.
You’re in for trouble if your plan is to have people show up and throw money at you. In almost all cases you’re going to have to sell the visitor on your products and services. Don’t like selling? Bite the bullet and do it.
What most people love about the web (and don’t realise is a huge limitation) is that there is no face-to-face selling. This allows us to put away our fears of rejection so we can just go out and try to sell stuff. If nothing happens at least they won’t be hurting your feelings.
The bottom line is you must think about the process a visitor goes through to increase your web conversion.
A Web Marketing Strategy Doesn’t Exist
This brings us to a bigger problem with most websites… lack of strategy. Conversion is one strategy that’s missing and the second is traffic. Even if your website rocks on conversion is won’t make much difference if you can’t get any visitors.
It’s important to have a way of generating website traffic. These could be things like social media, article marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), video marketing and pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. But you need to focus your efforts with a strategy.
Another error (that I’ve made a lot) is to not pick one strategy and follow through with it rather than running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off. This results in none of your strategies getting any traffic and you end up with disappointed. The secret is to select just a few web site marketing strategies that you can apply over the next few months and simply do them consistently.
It’s important to get these first strategies giving you results and then you can select more to add. But don’t discard what got you to that point. Keep doing the basics well and you’ll go far.
